Robyn Spady produces beautiful and functional fabrics for clothing,
scarves, purses, bookmarks, jewelry, and more. Below is a sampling
of her custom garments.
Duality I - This vest is a tongue-in-cheek
breaking of the weaving cliché about how color and texture
shouldn't be combined with structure. Each side of the stitched
double cloth fabric was designed to be as dissimilar as possible.
Warm textured colors on one side; bright black and blue twill
on the other side.

Duality II - This vest was designed with the
objective of creating a simple, reversible, and versatile garment
that would travel well and coordinate with a multitude of colors.
The fabric is a four-shaft double-faced weft twill. The simple
lines of "Duality II" allow the wefts on both sides
to show their individual personalities . . . Blues and burgundy
on one side with a plethora of colors on the other.

Duality III - The inspiration behind "Duality
III" came from the discovery of a weave structure that
allows for a double-faced fabric to be woven on four shafts
with a single shuttle. The variegated warps were selected because
they were distinctive, yet shared dark blue as a common color,
which was used as its single weft. Double-faced fabrics allow
for a single cloth to be used to recreate reversible garments.
Seaming techniques were used to further make each side more
distinctive.

Four-shafts and Fabulous- This four-shaft interlocking
twill is one of the most fascinating weaves I've ever come across!
It also shatters the myth that double weave on four shafts is
limited to a plain weave appearance. Twill-like diagonal lines
appear on both sides of the fabric. The vest was designed to
have lapels that folded back to show the complementary side
of the fabric for contrast.

Tuscan Sun and Wine - I love Italy. This vest
was inspired by the rays of the warm sun on the morning flowers
and the wine made from the vineyards that grow nearby. This
eight-shaft stitched double cloth was made into a reversible
vest that even has bias-bound edges in different colors on each
side.
